Xiaomi Isn’t Just Making Phones; It Just Built The Fastest EV Ever At The Nürburgring
by AutoExpert | 26 June, 2025
Xiaomi just set the Nürburgring on fire with its SU7 Ultra prototype. The stripped-out, caged electric car clocked an astonishing lap time of 6 minutes and 22 seconds, shaving 24 seconds off its previous record from 2024. That makes it quicker than any production car ever to tackle the legendary circuit, whether gas-powered or electric.
Only three vehicles in history have gone faster: the Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo, Volkswagen ID.R, and the Porsche 956 from way back in 1983. The SU7 Ultra prototype packs 1,548 horsepower from its tri-motor setup. It rockets from 0 to 62 miles per hour in just 1.98 seconds and tops out at 217 mph.
This particular Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is no road-going model. It has been completely gutted for weight reduction, fitted with racing slicks, and dialed in for maximum performance under ideal conditions.
While you won’t be able to buy the exact prototype, Xiaomi is releasing a special SU7 Ultra Nürburgring Edition to mark the occasion. This limited model brings a heavy dose of track-inspired features. It includes a roll cage, carbon fiber hood, rear spoiler, and underbody aero elements that generate nearly 100 pounds of downforce. Inside, it gets Sparco bucket seats with six-point harnesses and Nürburgring logos stitched into the fabric.

The Nürburgring Edition also comes with the SU7 Ultra’s Track Package. That means Endless brake pads, Bilstein EVO R height-adjustable coilovers, a carbon roof, and 21-inch wheels wrapped in Pirelli Trofeo RS tires.
Xiaomi will produce just 100 units, priced at 814,900 Chinese Yuan, which works out to about $114,000 USD. Unfortunately, like most Chinese-branded performance cars, this one is staying in the local market. For now, U.S. buyers will have to admire from afar.
