The British Army Eyes GM ISV For Rapid Response Missions

The British Army could soon get a big upgrade to its transport fleet. GM Defense has teamed up with NP Aerospace to offer its Infantry Squad Vehicle (ISV) to the UK and other NATO forces.
The ISV isn’t new. It’s already used by the U.S. Army, Special Operations Forces, and the Canadian military. It's also been deployed across Europe. With the British Army looking for a modern, fast, and flexible option, this could be the right fit.

The ISV is based on the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2. About 90% of its parts come from existing commercial vehicles. That makes it cheaper, easier to fix, and more reliable in the field.
It runs on GM’s 2.8-liter Duramax turbo-diesel engine. The power goes through a six-speed automatic and a two-speed transfer case. Like the Colorado ZR2, it has front and rear locking differentials for tough terrain.

Each ISV can carry up to nine troops. It can be dropped from a C-17 aircraft or fit into a Chinook or King Stallion helicopter. That makes it perfect for fast-response missions.

Steve duMont, head of GM Defense, said the goal is to bring new mobility tech to the UK quickly and efficiently. NP Aerospace adds its experience in armor and vehicle support. Together, they hope to give the British Army a strong, modern option. This move could also help other NATO forces looking to update their fleets. For now, it’s an early step—but it’s a promising one.
