New Venom F5 Updates Confirmed By Hennessey's Chief Engineer

The official Hennesey Performance YouTube channel posted today a video testing its Venom F5 on the airport track, and the results revealed a 200-mph top speed instead of the aimed 311-mph. Mark that this time, the car was working on half of the V8's presumably 1817-hp output.

Hennessey is pretty ambitious when it comes to creating the fastest car in the world embodied in their Venom F5 model. This model should outcome the Bugatti Chiron’s 304-mph record. After this test, The F5 scored over 200-mph trespass riding on its 6.6-liter twin-turbocharged V8 making just half of what will be its eventual 1817-hp output.

According to John Heinricy, Hennessey Performance's chief engineer, the explanation is simple. "It's much easier to do the basics at a lower output to get the learnings in, and we can then build on that . . . But if you look at 900 horsepower and the weight of the car, there's no lack of performance."

Despite their bold statements, previous tests brought different numbers. Take, for example, the promised 2.2-mile runway performance test proved to be wrong after proper tests last year numbers changed to 3.2 miles after further testings. Still, after a ride on the public roads, all this seemed irrelevant on public roads where you could not test the 311-mph top speed by yourself.

"Sure, we're focusing on top speed and being the fastest on the racetrack, but we're also looking at the whole balance. If you just look at top speed, you're not going to make a car that is capable of everyday driving, we're not going after just a single area . . . and if you get the basics together it’s going to be a lot easier to get the ultimate performance."

Now, Heinricy states that they no longer aim to beat only the Bugatti's top speed record. They want to build the fastest in the world and much more. "Sure, we want to make a car that can be compared to a Bugatti or the Koenigsegg, but not just on top speed. We want to create a decathlete," he elaborated. Let's hope they will succeed and build the Venom F5 with character enough to reach its goals and set new records in the car industry.
