For almost three decades in California, a 1955 Porsche Spyder was found in a Californian storage container after literally traveling across the world before it got locked up in this container resurfacing again and now we can enjoy it. Bobby Green from Old Crow Speed Shop rediscovered it after being locked up in the container for over 30 years.

Unveiled in 1953, the 1955 Porsche Spyder has quite a history behind it. Built in Stuttgart, the Porsche raced in Hawaii and the Bahamas, and after that everyone lost its track though it was never considered lost. The car was simply locked in a shipping container on a hill in Orange County, California.

This particular model was first owned by Albert Hosking of Pasadena, California which opted for a red paint job. after that, it was bought by another owner and had both brother and sister, Loretta Turnbull and Ray Runbull, behind the wheel, as racers in the late '50s and the early '60s. After that, in 1963 it became propriety of Les Gunnarson. After surfacing for registration in 1994, the car was stored 35 years in the container.

The car is part of a personal collection left behind after he passed away. The collector, Les Gunnarson had an impressive collection of British motorcycles and other different vehicles. Bobby Green found out about the car sitting in a container in the Californian sun and wanted t take a look. A thorough investigation revealed the top of the hill where the vehicles' placement, and he found the red Porsche 550.

The 1955 Porsche 550 had flat tires a few more decays, but it's not something that can't be fixed. This particular model got his fame being labeled as the car that James Dean was driving when he got killed. So, there some Hollywood drama also in the background. The Porsche is powered by the rev-happy, air-cooled engine delivering around 110 horsepower. The 550 Spyder was quite a competitor back then, but only 90 units were produced, which makes the model quite a unique piece.
