Scout Gives Its Traveler Concept A New Personality With Pacific Mist Finish
by AutoExpert | 3 February, 2026
Scout has taken the wraps off a closer look at its Traveler Pacific Mist concept, a lightly updated version of the SUV it first showed at last year’s LA Auto Show. Scout calls it a “re-theme,” and the changes give it a fresh personality.
Let's start with the paint. Called Pacific Mist, it’s a custom, in-house color with a three-layer finish that plays tricks with the light. On cloudy days, the Traveler looks mostly silver. When the sun hits it, the color shifts toward blue. According to Scout, the shade was inspired by California’s coastline, specifically that foggy haze you see when waves smash into cliffs.

The exterior tweaks continue with a new set of 22-inch black wheels wrapped in chunky 35-inch BFGoodrich all-terrain tires. Black door handles and a black roof add contrast, giving the SUV a tougher, more purpose-built look.

Scout also added a roof rack and swapped the usual rear-mounted spare tire for something more creative. The new rear carrier, which Scout calls a “backpack,” features two separate compartments designed for wet or dry gear. It’s a clever idea, and Scout hinted this could eventually make it to production, calling the upgrades “a sneak peek at the road ahead.”

Inside, the concept leans into a warm, outdoorsy vibe. There’s brown leather seating mixed with denim-style accents, along with a two-tone steering wheel and metallic trim. A retractable Cabana Top adds an open-air feel, reinforcing the whole laid-back adventure theme.

Even though it looks familiar, Scout says the Pacific Mist Traveler is meant to preview how future packages could be set up - different color themes, trims, accessories, and gear tailored to specific uses.

Scout didn’t share detailed performance numbers, but the concept uses the brand’s Harvester range-extender setup. That system adds a gas engine to support the electric drivetrain, pushing total driving range past 500 miles. For an adventure-focused SUV, that’s a pretty solid promise.
