Fiat Dolce Camper Brings Chunky Tires Big Ground Clearance And A Pop Up Roof

Fiat brought some of their quirkier concepts back to Brazil, but it also turned out to be the most delightful thing they’ve displayed in years, to tell the truth. Think of the Panda-inspired concepts from last year? One of them is back, but dressed up for a weekend out in the wild.
Here you meet the Fiat Dolce Camper, now wearing colors and textures reminiscent of Brazil’s forests and beaches. Sounds like someone went on a runabout through the city, enviably friendly, and said, “What if we were to make it in some sense (theoretically maybe) capable of sleeping on a mountain?”

And so you end up with the Dolce Camper with chunky disc-style wheels, decent off-road tires, pixel-shaped LEDs, and rather a heavy dose of ground clearance. But the true party trick is the roof. Fiat added rails from the hood all the way up to the tail and then slapped on a pop-up tent called the “Pandora.” It slides forward and looks a bit like a padded jacket that sits on top of the car. There is even a ladder hidden in the tailgate, so you can climb straight into your tiny rooftop bedroom. Very Instagram-friendly.

The inside is stripped-down but cool. There is a wooden shelf and a metal speaker, as well as the steering wheel that is fashioned after the iconic roof of a Lingotto factory in Turin. Its seats are adorned in bright orange fabric and have big cylindrical headrests, which is quite possibly more of a “concept car chic” vibe than “production-ready practicality,” after all.

Underneath its body, the Dolce Camper is built on a platform that can be used for pretty much anything: electric, hybrid, or combustion. That’s exactly how it should work for the new Grande Panda, Opel Frontera, and Citroën C3, so there’s a good chance that this concept would evolve toward a really tiny SUV from time to time. Fiat is a brand of product rollout marathon—a new model will be introduced each year from 2026 to 2030.

A South American version of the Grande Panda is coming; a sporty fastback is already in testing in Europe. Something like this Camper would not be a big shock. For now, this idea is only a concept, just meant to stand the test of time at São Paulo Auto Show. It takes up space with a Stranger Things-themed Abarth Pulse and a very accessorized Strada pickup. But even among that crowd, the Fiat Dolce Camper is special—not because it’s the craziest, but because it’s fun. It’s like Fiat remembering how to be Fiat again.
