Citroën ELO Concept: A Tiny Van With Big Ideas
by AutoExpert | 10 December, 2025
Citroën is showing once again that it’s not afraid to rethink familiar segments. Its latest concept, called the ELO, is a compact electric van designed to explore what future small family vehicles could look like. The company describes it as a place to rest, play, and work, which also happens to be where its name comes from.
At just over four meters long, the ELO is roughly the size of older models like the C3 Picasso, but the shape is completely different.

Instead of a classic small MPV profile, Citroën went with a very upright, single-box layout. Large windows, sliding side doors, and simple, squared lighting help give it a practical and friendly look. The illuminated badge, the curved windshield, and the asymmetrical rear door add just enough personality without going over the top.
The concept rides on 21-inch wheels, and the roof dips slightly toward the rear. Small details, like the horizontal lines above the wheel arches, break up the otherwise clean sides.

Inside, the ELO’s focus becomes even clearer. The cabin can be configured for either four or six passengers. The driver sits in the middle, with two removable seats placed slightly behind and a three-person bench at the back.
The front seat can swivel around to create a small meeting space, and the rear area can turn into a sleeping setup using inflatable mattresses stored in the trunk. There’s also a drop-down screen for entertainment, giving the ELO the feel of a tiny mobile living room.

Citroën goes in a different direction with the dashboard, opting for a basic open section below the windshield and a narrow display. The steering wheel is mounted on the front wall and uses joystick-style controls in conjunction with physical stalks. Storage areas are built into the doors and side panels, playing into the utilitarian vibe of the van.
The ELO rides on a dedicated pure EV platform. Citroën hasn’t released any specifications, so for now, the brand notes that the concept is aimed at use within the city. That’s where its small footprint and versatile interior would be most practical.

Citroën will debut the ELO to the public for the first time at the Brussels Motor Show in January 2026. It’s not going into production, but the company views it as a way to try out ideas that might show up in future models.
Design Director Pierre Leclercq calls the ELO a burst of creative energy, while CEO Xavier Chardon describes it as a message about where Citroën wants to head next - practical, efficient, and a little bit playful.
