BMW Ethos Concept Is A Hydrogen Dream Car With M1 And i8 DNA
by AutoExpert | 9 July, 2025
BMW M is gearing up to launch a new flagship supercar, and while official specs are still hush-hush, the idea alone has sparked excitement. One designer who couldn’t wait is Sebastiano Ciarcia, who imagined his own version of what a modern BMW exotic might look like. He calls it the Ethos, and it’s the kind of digital concept that makes you stop and stare.
This BMW Ethos Concept is sleek, sculpted, and futuristic, yet rooted in BMW’s design history. There are echoes of the legendary M1, hints of the i8, and even a nod to the 1990s Nazca C2 concept.

It’s low, wide, and dramatic, with a glass canopy cabin and chunky rear arches that channel vintage Italian supercars. The signature kidney grilles are still there, just cleaner and body-colored, paired with slim LED lights hidden in the front intakes for a motorsport-inspired vibe.

Out back, it’s all about sharp lines and speed: a narrow light bar stretches across the rear, an active spoiler adds flair (and function), and the aggressive diffuser ties the whole thing together. Ciarcia imagines the Ethos running on hydrogen fuel cells, delivering hypercar levels of performance without the emissions.

The concept is shown in a champagne gold finish, with Lake Como’s glamorous Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este as the backdrop. In terms of competition, the Ethos would line up against elite names like the Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale, Aston Martin Valhalla, or Mercedes-AMG’s futuristic Vision One-Eleven.

It's an ambitious idea, but not far-fetched given BMW’s recent push toward bold design and performance electrification. As for the creator, Ciarcia is an Italian designer based in Sweden, with experience at Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Rimac, and Volvo. If BMW’s real halo car ends up even half as exciting as the Ethos, it’s going to be something very special.
