Alpine’s Planning A 1,000-HP Hybrid Supercar To Take On Ferrari And Lamborghini
by AutoExpert | 30 May, 2025
Alpine is diving headfirst into the future with bold ambition and zero hesitation. The brand has now quietly dropped an even bigger bombshell: a 1,000-horsepower hybrid supercar is in the works, and it’s aiming straight at Ferrari and Lamborghini.
Renault CEO Luca de Meo confirmed the project during the A390’s media debut, and Alpine boss Philippe Krief added the real meat: the car is slated for 2028 and will use a twin-power setup—turbocharged V6 at the back, electric motors up front.

This car has three jobs, Krief told TopGear. "One is to bring Alpine up. You need this kind of car, as it holds up all the rest of the range. Second, it's a laboratory of innovation, first for the supercar, then for Alpine, and then for the whole [Renault] Group. Third, it will make a good business."
The concept sounds familiar: a powerful hybrid with serious performance, not unlike what Ferrari’s done with the SF90 or Lamborghini with the Revuelto. But Alpine is putting its own spin on it—lighter, more compact, and driven by its motorsport roots. Instead of a big V10 or V12, the centerpiece will be a high-strung V6, paired with cutting-edge electrification.

The powertrain is being developed by Alpine Hypertech, the racing and R&D arm created after Renault ended its Formula 1 engine program. These are the same folks behind Alpine’s WEC efforts, and their fingerprints are all over this car’s development. So expect performance to be more than just a number: it’ll be track-tested and race-bred!
Styling-wise, it won’t echo the recent Alpenglow concept seen here. Krief made that clear. The supercar will carve its own design path and, as of now, doesn’t even have an official name.

Besides, Alpine plans to roll out five EVs by 2030, starting with an all-electric A110 successor next year. A larger model, aimed at the U.S. market, is also in the pipeline, along with the revival of the A310 as a sleek 2+2 sports coupe. The compact A290 hot hatch is already out, serving as the playful gateway drug into Alpine’s expanding lineup.
If this 1,000-hp monster delivers on its promise, Alpine won’t just be a boutique French sports brand anymore. It’ll be a real player in the global performance game!
