Volvo Concept truck might soon hit production and, once it does, it will bring a combination of the existing 12.8-liter D13 diesel engine with electric assistance on the marketplace, thus improving the fuel consumption and the CO2 emissions.
The batteries are being charged while the truck drives downhill and under brake. The I-See powertrain management system is able to use the information on the truckâs navigation and plan the necessary energy for the following 3.1 miles of the road.

The concept truck can drive up to 62 miles purely on electrical energy. The concept was first shown in May 2016, but Volvo kept on developing it ever since then. Some of the innovations have already been implemented on some of Volvoâs models, other are planned to be soon installed.

Volvo concept truck will be one more addition to the developing marketplace of big-sized trucks. Mercedes-Benz is aiming that marketplace with the Urban eTruck concept, while Nikola Motor is working on a hydrogen fuel cell semi, that can produce up to 1,000 hp. And then, there is a plan of developing Tesla 18-wheeler.
