A Cobra Daytona Coupe billed as Carrol Shelby’s personal car is for sale now. With CSX 2469 chassis number and a body shared with one of the 60s Shelby race cars winners. Despite not being one of the six original Daytona Coupe, it’s still a car with vintage race history.

Shelby Daytona marquee the Shelby Cobra’s evolution from a roadster car to a GT class winning some of the toughest endurance races. The streamline is designed by Peter Brock, and with a Ford V8 engine, the Cobra won its category in the prestigious of the races – the 24 Hours of Le Mans, 12 hours of Sebring, the Nurburing 1,00 km race, and the 24 Hours at Daytona.

Originally built as a Cobra roadster and converted later into a Daytona Coupe, it still includes the Oregon title showing the car was indeed titled under Carroll Shelby Enterprises and FIA paperwork approval for vintage racing. The FIA approval paper is given only to cars with racing history in vintage races like Monterey Historic.

The original six Daytona Coupe prices depend on the racing provenance. For example, the Shelby that was driven by Bob Bondurant 1965 World Manufacturers Championship sold for $7.25 million eleven years ago, and it was the world’s record price for an auctioned American car.

It seems that over the last months Shelby is emptying their collection and sale them for heavy prices. The legendary Shelby-owned 1965 Cobra 427 was sold for $5.94 million, a 1986 Dodge Omni. GLHS, and the twin-supercharged 1966 Shelby Cobra 427 Super Snake. In 2016, the first Shelby Cobra ever built was sold for an astronomic price of $13,75 million.
