Unimog U 219 Low Makes Heavy-Duty Tasks Easier

The Unimog has long been the kind of truck you call when things get serious—think mud, rocks, deep snow, or rough terrain. It's a go-anywhere beast, thanks to its high ground clearance and those wild portal axles. But, sometimes, being that tall isn’t exactly helpful. Like when you're trying to load heavy gear at a busy worksite or on a tight city street.
That’s where the new Unimog U 219 Low comes in. Mercedes took their smallest Unimog and gave it a little haircut—not to make it sleek or sporty, but to make it way more practical.

This new version rides lower to the ground, with a chassis drop of 40 mm and a rear bed that's been dropped by a full 200 mm. That might not sound like much, but it makes a huge difference when you’re throwing tools or gravel into the back all day. The loading height now sits just under 1.2 meters, which is impressively low for something that can still tackle dirt tracks and rough terrain without breaking a sweat.
The bed itself is built by Eggers Fahrzeugbau and comes with a three-way tipping setup, so you can dump stuff left, right, or back. Even though it’s lower, the U 219 Low can still carry up to 10 tons, just like the regular version.

You’ve got two tire setups to choose from—one for all-terrain work, the other for road use. And don’t worry, it’s still a Unimog at heart. It keeps its portal axles, coil springs, and all the serious gear underneath that make it such a capable off-roader.
Power comes from a 5.1-liter diesel engine making 188 horsepower and 750 Nm of torque, sent to all four wheels via permanent all-wheel drive. Basically, it’s built to haul, climb, and power through whatever the day throws at it.

Inside, it gets Mercedes’ Uni-Touch system, which is a touchscreen setup that controls most of the truck’s functions, plus an optional joystick if you’re into that. It’s simple, functional, and built for the real world. If your work takes you from city streets to muddy fields and back again, this might be the most capable coworker you could ask for.
