Someone Spent 3,000 Hours on This G-Wagen’s Roof – Now It Costs $3.5 Million

A Mercedes G-Wagen already lives in expensive territory, but Carlex Design has taken one example into a completely different league.

The tuner wants €3 million ($3.5 million) for its one-off G-Stallion, which goes on display at the International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition in Abu Dhabi this month.

Carlex spends more than 3,000 hours just working on the roof. Craftsmen shape the aluminum panel by hand with traditional tools and wooden bucks before artists cover it in black, silver, and gold. A large horse sits at the center, surrounded by detailed patterns. The rest of the exterior gets flared fenders, new front and rear sections, pinstriping, and custom logos.

Inside, the Carlex G-Stallion goes even further. Maroon leather covers almost everything, from the seats and doors to the dashboard, steering wheel, and center console. Alcantara adds softer surfaces, while real metal parts, buckles, and hand-engraved details give the cabin a handcrafted feel.

Now comes the tricky part. Carlex wants €3 million ($3.5 million) for the finished G-Class. That makes finding the right buyer just as important as building the car itself. Will someone actually write the €3 million check?
