Track-Only Toyota GR Supra GEN3 Packs Naturally Aspirated 5.0L V8

The road-going GR Supra might be getting ready to hang up its boots, but Toyota clearly isn’t letting the name go quietly. They’ve built a track-only monster for Australia’s Supercars Championship, and it’s swapped the BMW turbo for a proper, naturally aspirated V8 that loves to scream its head off.
This thing isn’t for sale. Not unless you’ve got a race license, a team, and a few million lying around. Called the GR Supra GEN3, it’s packing a reworked 5.0-liter V8 (2UR-GSE)—the same all-aluminum, quad-cam beauty from the Lexus LC 500 and RC F. Here, it’s been juiced up for race duty with help from UK legends Walkinshaw Andretti United and Aussie tuner Craig Hasted.

Toyota Australia’s Sean Hanley has already fallen head over heels for it. “What a sound,” he said. “We knew the 2UR-GSE would sound great, but hearing it at full noise? Absolutely spine-tingling. This isn’t just an engine roar; it’s the sound of passion, precision, and progress.”

Visually, the Toyota GR Supra GEN3 is just as aggressive as it sounds. Toyota’s Altona design crew went wild with a chunky splitter, wider fenders, a skyscraper of a rear wing, 18-inch alloys on slicks, and AP Racing brakes big enough to stop a freight train. Only six will ever exist: two for Walkinshaw Andretti United and four for Brad Jones Racing. These Supras will be going head-to-head with V8 Mustangs and Camaros when the Supercars season kicks off.

The clay model has already been shown off, but the real deal hits Sydney on September 1 before making its proper track debut at the Bathurst 1000 in October. Development will keep rolling ahead of the 2026 season start in February.
