2026 Toyota Land Cruiser 300: Improved Tech And Security, But Big Delays
by AutoExpert | 25 March, 2025
Toyota’s staying true to its roots with the 2026 Land Cruiser 300, offering some subtle updates but not shaking things up too much. If you’re hoping to grab one, though, don’t expect to get it right away.
Toyota’s all about tech this time around, especially inside the cabin. The higher trims now get a 12.3-inch digital display, while the entry-level models stick with a 7-inch version. The infotainment screen’s an 8-inch standard, but you can go for a larger 12.3-inch screen if you prefer something a little more commanding.

After getting a bit of a bad rap for being one of the most stolen vehicles in Japan, the Land Cruiser 300 now comes with extra security. Toyota’s My Car Start Lock feature lets owners lock the engine remotely through their smartphone. Plus, you’ve got a fingerprint-authentication start button, an upgraded alarm system, and better immobilizer tech to make sure the vehicle stays put.
Toyota’s also beefed up safety features, thanks to some fresh regulations in Japan. The pre-collision system now helps detect cyclists, and there’s an improved cybersecurity setup to keep the car protected.

The engine options stay the same: a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 gasoline and a 3.3-liter V6 diesel, both paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and full-time four-wheel drive. The only change? The diesel engine now meets Japan’s stricter emissions standards.
The refreshed 2026 Toyota Land Cruiser 300 starts at ¥5,252,500 (around $35,100) for the base GX trim and goes up to ¥8,136,800 ($54,400) for the GR Sport diesel version.

Here’s the catch: if you’re thinking of placing a new order, you might have to wait a while. Demand has always outstripped supply, and Toyota has temporarily stopped taking orders to focus on fulfilling the existing backlog.
They posted an apology on their website, saying, "Thank you for considering purchasing our vehicle. The Land Cruiser ‘300’ has undergone some improvements to comply with regulations. We have suspended orders in order to prioritize production of vehicles for customers who continue to place orders and are waiting for delivery. We understand that many customers in Japan are waiting for their vehicles to be delivered, and we will do our utmost to maximize production and deliver these vehicles as quickly as possible. We apologize for the continued inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.”

So, if you’re eyeing one of these, you’ll need to be patient. But hey, if you can wait, the 2026 Toyota Land Cruiser 300’s definitely worth it.
