The automotive family is expanding with Toyota and Stellantis's latest reveal: the electric ProAce, ProAce Max, and ProAce City. Toyota has stepped into the European large truck segment with the ProAce Max, complementing the ProAce and ProAce City models, all sharing Stellantis's base and available with electric powertrains.

Additionally, Toyota has upgraded the Hilux with a 48V mild-hybrid system, enhancing its already impressive efficiency.

The Toyota ProAce Max, akin to the newly refreshed Fiat Ducato, Citroen Jumper, Opel Movano, and Peugeot Boxer models, distinguishes itself with a redesigned front end and Toyota emblems.

Apart from these Toyota-specific touches, the model shares the same full-LED lighting and 16-inch rims as its Stellantis counterparts. Inside, the van is equipped with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), connected services, and state-of-the-art infotainment.

Available in six configurations, the ProAce Max offers a spacious load area of up to 600 cubic feet. The lineup includes versatile layouts such as the one-way or three-way tipper, Chassis, Platform, Crew Cab, and dropside models.

The ProAce Max features a WLTP-estimated range of 260 miles, courtesy of its 110 kWh battery pack. Emulating the Fiat E-Ducato, it boasts fast-charging capabilities, reaching 80% charge in under an hour. While no diesel configuration has been confirmed, the focus is clearly on electric efficiency.

The 2024 refresh for the ProAce and ProAce City includes redesigned front fascias that infuse a touch of Toyota's essence. The cargo capacities remain substantial, with the ProAce offering 233.2 cubic feet and the ProAce City providing 155.4 cubic feet. These updates carry over to the passenger versions, such as the 9-seat ProAce Verso and the 7-seat ProAce City Verso.

Electric versions of these trucks enjoy an extended range, with the ProAce capable of 218 miles and the ProAce City reaching up to 205 miles on a single charge. While no specific powertrain details were mentioned, it's noted that their counterparts are available with petrol and diesel engines.

Toyota and Stellantis

The eighth-generation Toyota Hilux now features a mild-hybrid system, maintaining its robust towing and payload capacities while improving fuel efficiency and off-road capabilities through smoother acceleration and regenerative braking.

This rejuvenated lineup under the Toyota Professional brand is set to hit European markets at the start of 2024, promising a blend of tradition and innovation in the commercial vehicle sector.
