To Reintroduce Passion, A Female Racer Will Test The New De Tomaso P72 Supercar

De Tomaso declared its comeback to the automotive industry a few years ago. We've seen glimpses of what the resurrected firm has in store, including the beautiful new De Tomaso P72 supercar. Since those days, the news has only grown better, with the firm confirming last year that it will manufacture its next machine in the United States.

The firm went a step higher last month by revealing a new track car, but it still needed someone to test its innovations. Carmen Jorda, a factory development engineer, and former Scuderia De Tomaso racing driver has now solved that problem.

De Tomaso P72
Motorsport has always been in her veins as the daughter of former race driver Jose Miguel Jorda.
For the European Open Formula 3 championship, she won three podiums. She also competed in Indy Lights and the GP3 series in North America. Aside from that, she is one of the few women to have occupied a Formula 1 official driver job.

Indeed, she is well-versed in her field, having already begun testing on both the road and track with De Tomaso's prototype P72 cars. "It feels like a dream," she says of joining this team.

In theory, it looks like Jorda's car has what it takes to compete with those in the world's top ranks when it comes to handling and performance. Over 700 hp and 608 lb-ft of torque are produced by a supercharged 5.0-liter V8, identical to the Ferrari F8 Tributo.

Even though it's not a fantastic sports vehicle, the P72 appears like an art piece from an earlier time.De Tomaso P72, with its sensuously flowing curves, is guaranteed to be a hit. There is also the fact that only 72 copies will be created at a cost of almost $830,000 each.

Additionally, De Tomaso's conception of the P72 reflects a female driver's contribution and aims to bring romanticism back into automotive design. Jorda's experimental and homologation prototype has been given the name 'Isabelle'.

Alejandro de Tomaso's sweetheart and business partner, who played a significant role in the De Tomaso brand's history, was known by this name. Isabelle was not only intimately related to Alejandro, but she also established herself as one of the first female racers, competing effectively against males in both America and Europe.
