The Xiaomi YU7 SUV Is Coming For Tesla’s Crown With €30K Price And 835 Km Range
by AutoExpert | 20 August, 2025
Xiaomi built its reputation on smartphones, but now the brand has its eyes on something much bigger: cars. The company has confirmed plans to launch its first electric SUV, the YU7, in Europe by 2027, and it is being positioned head-to-head with the Tesla Model Y.
The buzz around this SUV has been off the charts. When pre-orders kicked off in China, Xiaomi pulled in an unbelievable 289,000 reservations in just one hour. That’s three times the demand its first EV, the SU7 sedan, managed earlier in 2024. The hype has been so strong that buyers are now facing delivery waits stretching well over a year.
Xiaomi is offering the YU7 in three distinct versions:
The Standard model delivers 319 hp through the rear wheels and uses a 96.3 kWh battery to stretch range up to 835 km.
The Pro model adds a second motor for all-wheel drive and boosts power to 496 hp, with 770 km of range.
The Max goes even further with 690 hp, all-wheel drive, and a bigger 101.7 kWh battery, good for 760 km.
So whether you care more about efficiency or raw muscle, there’s a version to suit you.

Charging in Minutes, Not Hours
Thanks to its 800V system, the Xiaomi YU7 can go from 10 to 80 percent charge in just 12 minutes. Xiaomi hasn’t shared the peak charging figure yet, but the numbers put it among the fastest-charging EVs anywhere. That’s the kind of feature that makes daily driving far less stressful.

Price That Turns Heads
Perhaps the biggest surprise is the price. In China, the Xiaomi YU7 starts at 253,500 yuan, which works out to around €30,000. That makes it a direct rival to the Tesla Model Y, but at a price that undercuts it significantly.
Xiaomi isn’t just dipping a toe into the car market. With strong demand, practical range figures, cutting-edge charging, and aggressive pricing, the YU7 could be the model that shakes up the EV world. If the company can deliver the same value and performance in Europe that it has in China, Tesla and BYD might finally have a serious new rival breathing down their necks.
