The New McLaren GTS Is Here To Show That Supercars Can Be Practical Too

Check out McLaren's latest beauty, the GTS, a revamped machine that's changing the game for practical supercars. McLaren dropped the GTS for 2024 as the next-gen replacement for the GT, bringing a bunch of cool upgrades.

One nice thing is the glass tailgate, which, when powered up and closed with a soft touch, opens up a roomy 14.8 cubic feet of cargo space.

Toss in another 5.3 cubic feet in the front trunk, and you're looking at a total luggage space of 20.1 cubic feet, making the GTS the go-to for the most practical supercar around. Sporting carbon ceramic brakes and adaptive dampers as standard, the GTS stays true to its supercar roots. The ground clearance can go from 4.3 to 5.1 inches, depending on whether you've got the lift system on.

The GTS gets a power boost in its twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, now cranking out an impressive 626 hp—that's 14 hp more than before. Slimming down by 22 pounds, the GTS now weighs in at 3,351 pounds, thanks to features like a brand-new roof panel made from recycled carbon fiber and a carbon fiber rear upper structure.

The McLaren GTS is crazy fast, going from 0 to 60 mph in 3.1 seconds, hitting 0 to 124 mph in 8.9 seconds, and maxing out at 203 mph. The V8 engine, kicking out 465 pound-feet of torque, teams up smoothly with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission called the Seamless Shift Gearbox.

McLaren GTS

Throwing in some optional titanium lug nuts, which are 35 percent lighter than the regular wheel bolts, helps shed even more weight. You've got a choice between the standard 10-twin-spoke forged alloy wheels or the fresh 10-spoke Turbine lightweight wheels, both hooked up with custom Pirelli P Zero tires. What's more, the McLaren GTS introduces sleek Lava Grey paint and Softgrain Aniline leather seat upholstery with contrasting stitching and a dual-piping pattern.

McLaren GTS

McLaren is already taking orders for the GTS, but they're keeping the pricing under wraps for now. Just to give you an idea, the now-retired 2023 GT started at $208,490.
