The First Two Hurst Dodge Vipers Ever Built Are Heading To Auction
by AutoExpert | 15 December, 2025
Back in 2008, Hurst decided to celebrate its 50th birthday properly. It teamed up with Dodge and built a tiny run of special Vipers. Just 50 cars in total.
Now, two of those cars are heading to the Barrett-Jackson auction in Scottsdale, and these aren’t just any two. They’re VIN 001 and VIN 002. The first ones ever made. And they’re being sold together. You don’t get to choose one.
They’re also the only Hurst Vipers finished in matte gold with black stripes. One is a coupe, the other a convertible. Both are basically new. The coupe has just over 800 miles, and the convertible barely over 200. They still wear their original dash plaques, too.
The first owner was Tammy Allen, a serious collector who once ran her own car museum in Colorado. After closing it, she sold part of her collection through Barrett-Jackson, including these two Vipers.
This wasn’t just a paint job. Hurst gave the cars real upgrades. Corsa exhausts, black polished wheels, adjustable suspension, and Eibach springs. Inside, there’s the classic Hurst pistol-grip shifter, plus special stitching and decals.

Under the hood, nothing changed, and that’s a good thing. The 8.4-liter V10 is stock, making 600 horsepower and 560 lb-ft of torque. Power goes through a six-speed manual. No traction control, no stability systems: just you and the car.
As a bonus, the winning bidder also gets something a bit wild. A Viper go-kart with a first-gen body, finished in the same gold-and-black colors and covered in Hurst logos.
Two real Vipers, the first of their kind, plus a matching mini one. It’s a rare chance to own a small, very loud piece of Viper history.
