Here it is: the fully disclosed track-only Ioniq 5 N eN1 Cup Car racer. It has a lot in common with the roadgoing model's engine, but it has a number of improvements that the automaker claims mark the beginning of a new age in environmentally friendly racing.

The current Elantra participates in the N1 class, and Hyundai created this vehicle for professional drivers that race in that class as well. It will compete in the newly-introduced eN1 class, which runs on open rules and allows teams to use tires from any manufacturer.

A Hyundai E-GMP platform and an 84 kWh battery pack with an 800-volt electrical architecture are shared features between the street vehicle and the Ioniq 5 N eN1 Cup vehicle. Two more motors, one in the front and one at the back, each producing 222 and 378 horsepower, respectively, bring the total horsepower to 641.

Additionally, the  Ioniq 5 N eN1 Cup racing vehicle can go from 0 to 80 percent charge in just 18 minutes.

Hyundai has equipped the Ioiq 5 N eN1 Cup Car with unique two-way adjustable dampers that allow for camber and ride height adjustments; however, the engine remains the same. New forged calipers with six pistons up front and four pistons in the rear are also on the racer.

It also comes with a specially designed set of 18-inch forged wheels that are shod with 18-inch slick tires for enhanced traction. Significant changes have also been made to the aerodynamics.

A rear wing, new flared arches, and a more prominent front lip are some of the changes. The hood is made of FRP as well, and polycarbonate windows have been added. Curiously, the N Active Sound, N e-Shift, and N Grin Boost systems from the road car have been kept, and teams will have the opportunity to create their own sounds for the electric vehicle.

Some of the safety features that have been upgraded include a multi-point welded roll cage, asphyxiation fire layers, a high-voltage shutdown system, a higher voltage warning sign, bucket seats with six-point racing harnesses, and more.

At South Korea's Hyundai N Festival, the Ioniq 5 N eN1 Cup Car will have its world premiere. Vice president and head of N Brand & Marketing at Hyundai, Till Wartenberg, expressed his pride in unveiling the IONIQ 5 N eN1 Cup vehicle, which showcases the company's dedication to sustainable racing. This one-of-a-kind electric racecar is proof of their state-of-the-art technology and dedication to expanding the limits of what EVs are capable of doing on the track.
