The 2025 Toyota Camry Is Keeping Sedans Alive

Toyota Camry is the most popular family sedan in America and was the sixth-best-selling vehicle in the country last year. That's why the upcoming 2025 Camry isn't a total redesign, considering its success. Rather, it adds enough new features.

The 2025 Camry's major announcement is that it will be fully focused on hybrid vehicles. That implies that the conventional gasoline-only version will no longer be available. The hybrid technology isn't exclusive to front-wheel-drive vehicles.

A 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine with two electric motors powers both the front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive models. The all-wheel-drive variant has a touch more power with 232 horsepower, while the front-wheel-drive model has a total output of 225 horsepower. The Camry with all-wheel drive is actually front-wheel drive thanks to an additional electric motor positioned at the back that turns on when needed.

Toyota stated that they had adjusted the hybrid system to help the engine operate quieter, but they haven't revealed all the specifics of the new engines. For anyone who has experienced the droning sounds coming from continuously variable gearboxes in a Toyota or Lexus hybrid, this is good news.

What about the powerful V6 engine with 301 horsepower that powers the current Camry? The 2025 model doesn't have it at all. Besides, it might not be missed. This year, that V6 engine was only found in 7% of Camrys sold. It's interesting to note that a staggering 82% of purchasers continued with the conventional gasoline engine, while just 11% chose the hybrid. Removing the V6 engine also helps to make the Camry and the Crown—which cost more but have a four-cylinder engine—clearly different.

Whereas the Crown aims for a more premium design, the Camry maintains the traditional sedan style. The Camry lacks that plastic covering and has a conventional ride height. Nonetheless, several design cues are taken from the Crown. Look at the front—it resembles a hybrid of a Prius and a Crown. Although not an exact replica, the interior design bears some similarities to the Crown.

Buyers will receive some really decent items as standard with whichever 2025 Toyota Camry they choose. Many safety features, including blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, wireless phone charging, dual-zone climate control, and keyless entry, are included. However, the LE and SE models come with an 8-inch touchscreen and a 7-inch digital gauge cluster. You'll receive two 12.3-inch screens if you upgrade to the XLE or XSE.

Now, have a look at the SE if you're in the mood for something sporty. It features some front bumper canards, a black mesh grille, paddle shifters, alloy pedals, stiffer suspension, a dual-tip exhaust, a rear diffuser, and a body-color spoiler. However, the XSE is the best option if you want to go all out. It has ambient lighting, heated leather seats, acoustic glass, 19-inch wheels, and smart-key entry. Furthermore, the XLE is the better option if you prefer all the luxuries of the XSE but dislike the sporty features.

Prices will be revealed closer to the spring of 2024, when the 2025 Camry is expected to begin appearing at Toyota dealerships. The standard Camry, which is currently what most people purchase, has a starting price of $26,420. The new 2025 model may cost a little extra if you choose the hybrid, which starts at $28,855.
