The 2025 Audi A6 Is For People Who Still Love A Great Gas Sedan

The next-generation Audi A6 is finally stepping into the spotlight—and this time, it's doing so with a focus on refinement over radical change. While the electric A6 E-Tron grabbed headlines with its split-headlight design and futuristic curves, the gas-powered A6 keeps things more familiar, but not without some meaningful updates of its own.
This one rides on the PPC (Premium Platform Combustion) architecture, shared with the new A5. That sets it apart from its EV sibling, which sits on the PPE platform co-developed with Porsche. And with Audi pressing pause on a new A7 Sportback, the only version of this new A6 that will come with a hatch is the Avant wagon.

Design-wise, you’ll notice some cross-pollination from the Avant: that full-width rear light bar makes its way to the sedan, along with aggressive black winglets at the rear. Those tailpipes are real now—Audi’s finally ditching the era of fake exhaust tips.
Aerodynamically, this is Audi’s slipperiest gas car to date, with a drag coefficient of 0.23. That’s not quite as low as the electric E-Tron’s 0.21, but still impressive. At just under 197 inches long, it’s slightly longer than the model it replaces, while the wheelbase stays more or less the same. Wheel options go big, with sizes ranging from 21 to 23 inches—and there’s even a forged tri-color design if you’re feeling bold.

Practicality hasn’t been ignored either. The 2026 Audi A6 Sedan gives you 17.37 cubic feet of trunk space, while the Avant opens up to over 54 cubic feet with the rear seats folded flat. Plug-in hybrids will inevitably shave a bit off that due to their battery placement, but Audi’s only officially talking about combustion engines for now.
The entry-level setup is a 2.0-liter turbo four with 201 horsepower, sending power to the front wheels. Step up to the 3.0-liter V6 with mild-hybrid tech, and you’re looking at 362 hp and standard Quattro all-wheel drive. Diesel options are also still in the mix in Europe, with a 2.0 TDI offering up to 295 lb-ft of torque and 48-volt mild-hybrid tech.

Performance-wise, it’s not messing around—the V6 version hits 62 mph in 4.7 seconds and tops out at 155 mph. With the optional rear differential, power can be shuffled around between the rear wheels for better handling dynamics.
Inside, the 2026 Audi A6 Sedan has a familiar high-tech setup: an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.5-inch infotainment screen, and an optional 10.9-inch screen for the front passenger. Audi has acknowledged that recent models haven’t quite hit the mark in interior quality, so there’s been a push to bring things back up—30% more sound insulation, acoustic rear glazing, reworked bushings, and quieter gear sets all help make the cabin feel more refined.

The new 2026 Audi A6 Sedan is officially on sale now in Germany, with a starting price of €55,500—just over $63,000. Deliveries are expected to begin this summer in Europe, with U.S. availability to follow later on.
