Stellantis SRT Returns With Tim Kuniskis At The Helm
by AutoExpert | 3 July, 2025
Stellantis is finally listening to what muscle car fans have been saying all along. After shelving the Hemi V8 and trying to sell the idea that electric cars could carry the muscle car torch, they’re now walking that back a bit, and honestly, it’s about time. One big move in the right direction is bringing back the legendary SRT division.
SRT, short for Street and Racing Technology, is the name behind some of the wildest cars ever to wear a Dodge or Chrysler badge. Think Vipers, Hellcats, and even that crazy little Neon SRT-4. Stellantis killed off the department in 2021, leaving just the Durango Hellcat as the last model to wear the SRT badge. But now, that’s changing.

The revival is being led by Tim Kuniskis, the same guy who helped Dodge go full lunatic mode with things like the Demon 170. He’s already CEO of Ram, and now he’s also overseeing Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and the rebooted SRT. That’s a lot of hats to wear, but if anyone’s up for it, it’s him.
According to Kuniskis, they’re getting the band back together. SRT is about to become a full-on performance skunkworks again, pulling in top engineers in powertrain and handling to help create new high-performance vehicles. It’s not just about building faster cars either. SRT will take the lead on Stellantis’ Direct Connection parts program and will also manage racing efforts across North America.

That means Dodge and Ram are heading back to the drag strip, with a return to NHRA racing already in the works. And Ram is officially entering the NASCAR Truck Series in 2026. It’s a clear sign Stellantis wants to be back in the conversation when it comes to American performance.
For fans of loud, fast, unapologetically wild cars, this is good news. Stellantis is finally realizing that the muscle car legacy doesn’t live in silence. It lives in fire, smoke, and speed.
