Rivian R1T And R1S Go Wild With New Quad-Motor Power And 2.5-Second 0–60

Rivian’s taking things up a notch with its latest versions of the R1T pickup and R1S SUV, and this time, it’s all about power, fun, and a little bit of that “wow” factor. The carmaker has just introduced new quad-motor models that aren’t just quick; they’re downright wild!

Let’s start with the numbers, because they’re hard to ignore. Each one of these electric beasts packs 1,025 horsepower and nearly 1,200 lb-ft of torque. That’s enough to launch the R1T from a standstill to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds, with the R1S right behind it. For two vehicles that can also haul your camping gear and climb rocky trails, that’s pretty impressive.

However, it’s not just about going fast in a straight line. These new motors, designed and built in-house by Rivian, are smart too. The rear motors are all about power and torque, while the front ones are tuned for efficiency when you’re just cruising. They’re also cooled with oil to keep things running smoothly, even when you’re crawling over rocks or flying down the highway.

You’ll get solid range as well. Rivian says the quad-motor models can go up to 374 miles on a charge, or up to 400 miles if you switch on Conserve mode, which temporarily turns off the rear motors. Real-world figures may land a bit lower, depending on how you drive and which setup you pick.

The exterior of these new models looks familiar, but Rivian’s given them a few touches to make them feel special. There are new wheels, blue brake calipers, a glass roof, and a slightly cheeky mascot in the back with windswept hair, because why not have a bit of fun? Inside, you’ll find upgraded materials like quilted seats, bronze accents, and fancy wood trim.

Tech lovers aren’t left out either. A new feature called Launch Mode comes with its own camera, so you can record your high-speed takeoffs and replay them later with stats and all. Coming in September, a new tool called RAD Tuner will let drivers tweak their vehicle’s performance settings with simple sliders. There’s also an off-road helper called Kick Turn that can pivot the vehicle in tight spots by smartly adjusting the power to each wheel.

Looking ahead, Rivian is also making its vehicles more flexible when it comes to charging. Starting in 2026, all R1 models will come with Tesla’s North American Charging Standard plug. For now, buyers of the quad-motor versions will get a free adapter so they can use Tesla’s Supercharger network right away.

To mark the launch, Rivian is offering a special Launch Edition with exclusive green paint, custom badging, a camp speaker, and lifetime access to their premium Connect+ system. Prices start at $115,990 for the R1T and $121,990 for the R1S, though the Launch Editions come in a bit higher. Deliveries are starting soon, and if you’re lucky enough to snag one of these early builds, your Rivian adventure could be just around the corner.
