Pre-production version of the iconic Dodge Charger Daytona SRT has just been unveiled, marking its entry into the world of performance EVs. Dubbed "the future of electrified muscle," it is set to launch at the end of 2024, posing a direct challenge to the upcoming electric Chevrolet Camaro, due in 2026.

Widely promoted across Dodge’s social media platforms, its design closely mirrors the concept released in August 2022.

The vehicle retains its distinctive illuminated front grille, the triangular Fratzog logo, a symbol of Dodge's electric future returning for the first time since 1976, and carbon fiber intakes. Additionally, the SRT Concept features new, electrifying alloy-wheel designs and door handles that blend seamlessly with the bodywork.

The Charger Daytona SRT Concept introduces the groundbreaking Banshee propulsion system, pushing the “performance peak” beyond other Dodge performance lines like Hellcat, Hemi, and Redeye. Its 800V propulsion setup, combined with four-wheel drive, reportedly makes the concept faster than the Hellcat in “all key performance metrics.”

While specific performance details remain undisclosed, Dodge emphasizes that the concept draws inspiration from the 1970 Charger Daytona, the first NASCAR competitor to break the 200 mph barrier. The concept incorporates innovative technologies not found in typical electric vehicles. It features the Powershot button for rapid acceleration bursts and a multi-speed transmission with electro-mechanical shifting. Dodge claims the car includes a unique “Fratzonic chambered exhaust” system, emitting a 126dB sound – comparable to the roar of a 787 HP V8 engine in the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat.

This system is engineered through a tuning chamber and amplifier, both located at the car's rear, according to Dodge. The Charger Daytona’s design, while reminiscent of standard Chargers, boasts improved aerodynamics, courtesy of the R-Wing and a custom performance hood. Inside, the Concept is outfitted with a 16-inch curved instrument cluster, an 8.3-inch head-up display, and a 12.3-inch screen, complemented by ambient lighting and ultraviolet design elements.

The interior also features lightweight seats adorned with the Fratzog logo, silver stitching, and blue plasma accents. Dodge asserts that the car balances speed with practicality, offering flat-folding rear seats and more storage space than any other Dodge muscle car.

Tim Kuniskis, CEO of Dodge, stated that the Dodge Charger Daytona SRT is a testament to the brand’s commitment to performance. He emphasized that Dodge is synonymous with muscle, performance, and attitude. The Charger Daytona SRT not only signifies Dodge’s foray into the BEV segment but also showcases a concept brimming with performance, patents, and innovative features that epitomize the electrified muscle cars of tomorrow.

Dodge Charger Daytona SRT

The Charger Daytona SRT Concept is more than just a showpiece for car shows; it is capable of blazing through a quarter mile with fiery prowess. Speaking of product cycles, it surpasses even Darwin's theories. The Charger Daytona does more than merely chart Dodge’s direction; it is set to redefine American muscle in the process.
