In the world of classic cars, there's often a trade-off between head-turning looks and modern driving comfort. However, Sherwood Motorcars, based in Alberta, Canada, has taken a bold step to bridge that gap by giving a 1961 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible a 21st-century makeover.

The iconic '61 Corvette, coated in striking Roman Red, now boasts the power of an LS1 small-block engine, a heart borrowed from the newer Corvette C5 and Chevrolet Camaro. Although specific performance figures weren't revealed, this engine typically churns out a robust 300 to 350 horsepower in its factory form.

But power isn't the only aspect that received an upgrade. The car's suspension underwent a transformation courtesy of Jim Meyer Racing. A rack and pinion steering system, Wilwood disc brakes, and various drivetrain refinements have collectively transformed the driving experience.

For added convenience, the vehicle comes equipped with updated gauges and an air conditioning system, perfect for those who prefer a closed-top drive. Power is efficiently delivered to the rear wheels through a four-speed automatic gearbox.

In terms of servicing, there's no need to hunt for specialized mechanics. Thanks to the modern engine's Chevrolet lineage, any Chevy dealer across North America can provide maintenance and repairs.

Sherwood Motorcars expressed their understanding that the dream of driving a classic Corvette can differ from the reality. Hence, they aimed to make this Corvette drive every bit as good as it looks.

As for the price, it remains undisclosed, but this resto-modified 1961 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible is set to be auctioned off at Barrett-Jackson, where enthusiasts will have the chance to make it their own.

Sherwood Motorcars also offers an array of other Corvette builds, including a restored 1968 Corvette 427 with a four-speed manual gearbox and a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) for 79,980 Canadian dollars (around $58,552 USD). For budget-conscious buyers, there's a 1972 RWD Corvette 454 Stingray priced at $51,270 USD.
