Renault Filante EV Concept Runs For 10 Hours And Still Has Battery Left
by AutoExpert | 23 December, 2025
Renault just pulled off one of those quiet flex moments that makes engineers smile and range-anxiety people raise an eyebrow. They took their wild Filante concept, a single-seat electric thing (looks more like a spaceship than a car), and sent it out for a long, steady run.
Ten hours later, it had covered about 626 miles. Not crawling along either. They cruised at normal highway speeds, and the battery still held power. With about 11% left, Renault says they could have driven another seventy miles if they wanted.
What makes this even more interesting is the battery. No giant science experiment pack here. It uses the same 87 kWh battery you get in a Renault Scenic SUV. The big difference is everything wrapped around it. The Filante is light, around a thousand kilos, and shaped like the wind was part of the design team. Less weight, less drag, same juice. Simple math, big result.
Renault was very clear about one thing. This was not a slow Sunday hypermiling stunt, as the team aimed for real-world conditions. Long hours, steady speed, short pit stops, and the kind of driving that actually matters if you ever leave your city.

Three drivers took turns, pushing the Filante around a Moroccan test track for almost 240 laps. Not exactly glamorous, but it got the job done. By the end, the car had surpassed its target, proving that efficiency can be just as important as battery size.
For context, that same battery in a Scenic gets rated at under four hundred miles. The Renault Filante almost doubled that, mostly by being lighter and slicing through the air.

Renault says this is more than a concept car doing concept car things. The lessons from this run are heading straight into future road cars. Better efficiency at real speeds, less waste, and more range without turning every electric car into a rolling power bank.
In short, Renault just showed that smart design still beats brute force. And honestly, that might be the most refreshing part of the whole story.
