Renault Plans To Bring Back Iconic 90s And 2000s Cars

Renowned "Fast and Furious" automobiles from the 1990s and early 2000s are being brought back by Renault, which is preparing to embrace its past. During the introduction of the new Renault 5 Turbo 3E, Laurens van den Acker, the design leader for the company, hinted at the move, implying there is a perfect window to bring back these iconic cars.
Van den Acker stated, “If you wait too long, people have forgotten about them. If you're too early, it's still not cool enough." He also said the brand nailed it with the Alpine A110 reincarnation, a fitting '50s-'60s vehicle for its time. Now, he thinks it's time to revive "70s and "80s vehicles; in the future, we might see the well-known vehicles from Fast and Furious given a second life.

What then may we find on the road once more? Van den Acker noted the prospect of resurrecting famous Volkswagen Golf GTIs, Subarus, Hondas, and Datsuns. These models "grow with the people," he said, suggesting a nostalgic wave appealing to car enthusiasts who grew up surrounded by these models.
Reviving vehicles such as the Clio V6 or the Sport Spider—both rear-driven and maybe constructed on the same all-aluminum, rear-driven electric chassis that supports the 5 Turbo 3E is also under discussion. This combination of innovative electric technology with classic flair might truly change the automobile scene.
Van den Acker also mentioned how engineers and designers at Renault have changed their interaction. "The times where designers and engineers were enemies are long past,” he declared. "Now we work together like never before," he says; for him, this is the secret to bringing these nostalgic ideas to pass.
Just the most recent in a run of retro revivals at Renault, the 5 Turbo 3E demonstrates van den Acker's vision for the future of the brand—that which combines the best of the past with what lies ahead. One wonders who knows? Old Fast and Furious vehicles could soon be roaring back into our streets.
