Ram Now Offers A 10-Year/100K-Mile Powertrain Warranty—Here’s What It Covers

Most new vehicles come with a 3-year/36,000-mile warranty, which doesn’t cover even a quarter of the average vehicle’s lifespan. Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis thinks that’s outdated, especially since most truck buyers are now financing their vehicles for five years or more.
At a recent media briefing, Kuniskis pointed out the obvious: if someone is still making payments on a truck and something big breaks right after the warranty ends, they’re not going to be happy. Worse, they probably won’t buy from that brand again or recommend it to others.

That’s where Ram’s bold new move comes in. Starting with the 2026 models, all Ram trucks and vans (excluding fleet sales) will come standard with a 10-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty. It covers big-ticket items like the engine, transmission, transfer case, driveshafts, differentials, and axles—some of the most expensive parts to fix if they go south.
The new warranty only applies to the original owner, whether that’s a private buyer or a business. It's not transferable, and it doesn't apply to fully electric vehicles like the Ram 1500 REV.

Still, it gives peace of mind to long-term buyers and strengthens the relationship between Ram and its customers. As Kuniskis put it, “Our customers are making a long-term investment in Ram, and with America’s Best Full-size Truck Limited Powertrain Warranty, Ram is making a stronger and longer commitment to our customers.”
In short, longer truck loans need longer warranties. Ram got the message and delivered.
