New Peugeot E-208 GTI Hits 62 MPH In Just 5.7 Seconds

Peugeot has revived the GTI badge, and for the first time, it’s electric. Revealed at the Le Mans 24H, the new E-208 GTI brings back the iconic name after a six-year break, now powering a small hatchback with a fully electric drivetrain.
The new Peugeot E-208 GTI shares its platform with other Stellantis models like the Abarth 600e and Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce, and it uses the same electric motor setup. That means 276 horsepower, 255 lb-ft of torque, and a 0 to 62 mph time of just 5.7 seconds, making it the quickest GTI Peugeot has ever made.

A 54 kWh battery offers a range of about 217 miles, and while that’s not class-leading, it charges from 20 to 80 percent in under 30 minutes. It also supports vehicle-to-load (V2L), meaning you can plug in gadgets or equipment when needed.

Peugeot gave the E-208 GTI a proper hot hatch makeover. It sits 30 mm lower, has a wider track, and wears 18-inch wheels styled to resemble those from the classic 205 GTI. Red accents appear throughout—on the grille, brakes, seat belts, and dashboard stitching. The cabin is fitted with sports seats, red floor mats, and digital displays with customizable ambient lighting.

Meanwhile, the chassis has been reworked with retuned suspension, upgraded dampers, and sticky Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. It also gets bigger brakes and sharper steering to back up the power.

Expected to cost £36,000 (around $49k), the Peugeot E-208 GTI hits the road later this year. If it drives as well as it looks, Peugeot might just have a new icon on its hands.
