The Nissan Frontier is all revved up and ready to carve its name in the sands of the 500th National Off-Road Racing Association (NORRA) race, thanks to the fine-tuning prowess of Forsberg Racing and champion Drifter, Chris Forsberg.

In a thrilling collaboration, Nissan joined forces with tuning maestros to prime the midsize truck for the race, exclusively employing NISMO Off-Road products. This specification not only gears the truck to dominate in the stock vehicle class but also gives Nissan a grand stage to flaunt a plethora of available parts in a wild, racing backdrop.

The Frontier has been meticulously outfitted with a NISMO Off-Road lift and high-performance suspension trim, adorned with a NISMO Forsberg Racing graphics package, enlightened by NISMO Off-Road lighting upgrades, fortified with NISMO Off-Road rock sliders, and set rolling on NISMO 17-inch Axis Truck Beadlock wheels shod in Yokohama Geolandar M/T G003 tires.

Beneath the hood, the Frontier PRO-4X roars with a 3.8-liter V6 engine, churning out 310 HP, and is equipped with a limited-slip rear differential, a nine-speed automatic transmission, a dual-range transfer case, underbody skid plates, and four-wheel drive.

Though it didn’t inherit the V8 from the Forsberg-crafted NISMO Frontier V8 Concept displayed at SEMA last year, the V6 engine still stands as a potent heart for this racing beast.

The NORRA 500 race, unfolding over two action-packed days from October 19 to October 22, will traverse the rugged terrains of Baja California, Mexico. Kicking off in Ensenada, the race will sprint through to San Felipe on The Sea of Cortez, before making the victorious return to Ensenada.

With a nod to the past, Nissan aims to rekindle the racing spirit of its iconic Hardbody truck that triumphed in legendary races like the Baja 1000 and Mint 400 during the 80s. The aspiration is for the Frontier to emulate the glorious trails of its predecessor, potentially on the emblematic wheels showcased in the recently unveiled Frontier Hardbody Edition.

Post-race, the Frontier will make a grand entrance at the 2023 SEMA Show scheduled from October 31 to November 5, escorted by Chris Forsberg himself, along with a curation of other yet-to-be-announced Nissan Concepts. This venture not only underscores Nissan's illustrious racing heritage but also propels the brand into the spotlight, merging the past with a revved-up present on a high-octane stage.
