New Electric Hyundai Elexio SUV Promises 700 km Of Range In China

Hyundai has revealed a new electric SUV called the Elexio, built specifically for the Chinese market. Unlike the Ioniq-branded EVs we’re used to, this one takes a different approach in both name and design. It’s being developed through Hyundai’s joint venture with BAIC and is part of a broader effort to regain ground in China’s ultra-competitive EV space.
The Hyundai Elexio has a clean, modern look with a grille-less front, sharp LED lights, and sculpted bodywork. It’s meant to stand out in a crowded segment, and it definitely has the styling to do it.

Inside, the design is minimalist, dominated by a massive touchscreen that runs across most of the dashboard. There’s another smaller screen behind the steering wheel, and very few physical buttons overall.

The SUV runs on Hyundai’s E-GMP platform, which already underpins other models like the Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6. While Hyundai hasn’t revealed battery specs yet, the Elexio promises over 700 kilometers of range using China’s testing standards.

It can also fast-charge from 30 to 80 percent in under half an hour. The Hyundai Elexio is equipped with advanced driver assistance systems and offers Level 2+ semi-autonomous driving.

Production will take place in China, and the Hyundai Elexio is expected to launch there in the coming months. So far, there’s no word on whether it’ll be sold elsewhere. Hyundai recently invested over a billion dollars into its China operations, and the Elexio is one of the key products intended to help the brand stay relevant in the world’s largest car market.
