The Citroën ë-C5 Aircross has just landed, and it’s aiming to shake up the family SUV game with a fresh look, more tech, and finally an all-electric version. Starting at £34,065, the EV undercuts rivals like the Skoda Enyaq by a good £5,000.
Let’s talk styling. The new design gives the Citroën ë-C5 Aircross a much sharper, more modern face. Think slimmer grille, sleeker headlights, and chunkier bumpers that add a bit of SUV attitude. It’s also grown longer—by 150 mm—to make more room inside, especially for rear passengers. Citroën says most of that extra space went into legroom, which means happier backseat riders.

Inside, things feel a lot more upmarket. Citroën’s calling it the “C-Zen Lounge,” and it’s easy to see why. The dashboard has been completely rethought with soft-touch materials. There’s ambient lighting you can change in eight different colors and a massive 13-inch floating touchscreen that now takes center stage. Most buttons are gone, but Citroën has designed the interface to keep essentials easy to access. Voice commands come standard too, and yes, ChatGPT is built in as your digital co-pilot.

The new seats have been completely redone for comfort, with extra padding and side bolsters that adjust electronically. Even the rear seats recline now, and there’s more space for heads, knees, and gadgets—USB-C ports, cupholders, and all. Plus, with the seats up, boot space is a roomy 651 liters. Fold them flat, and that jumps to 1,668 liters. There’s even a hidden underfloor compartment to stash your charging cable or muddy boots.

At launch, you get two powertrain choices. The hybrid pairs a 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine with a small electric motor for 143 hp. The EV version steps things up with 207 hp and a 73 kWh battery, good for up to 322 miles of range. And if that’s not enough, Citroën’s bringing two more options soon: a plug-in hybrid with 193 hp and 53 miles of electric-only driving, and a more powerful EV with 421 miles of range.

Trim levels start with the value-packed “You!” version, which comes loaded with features like wireless phone charging, adaptive cruise control, built-in nav, and 18-inch alloys. At the top of the range is the “Max” trim, which adds extras like heated seats and steering wheel, a head-up display, an electric tailgate, and a heat pump to make the EV more efficient in cold weather. That one tops out at £39,345 for the electric version—but it could drop by as much as £3,750 if it qualifies for the government’s new EV grant (we’ll know more on August 11).
