Mugen Launches Extreme Honda Civic Type R Kit With Wild Aero And Track Upgrades
by AutoExpert | 3 November, 2025
Mugen has turned the Honda Civic Type R into something even more special. The new tuning package gives it a sharper look, stronger brakes, and an exhaust that sounds far louder and meaner than the stock car. The full set of upgrades almost doubles the cost of Japan’s popular hot hatch.
The Group B body kit made its debut at the 2025 Tokyo Auto Salon. After teasing it as a concept the previous year, Mugen is finally putting it on sale, complete with full pricing and delivery info.
The front of the car gets a new bumper with a deep splitter, a vented hood, and large fender openings like those on a race car. Along the sides are more defined skirts, while the back wears a large wing, a small lip spoiler, and a wide diffuser. Mugen says the setup creates three times more downforce than the stock Civic Type R and cuts 38 kilograms of weight thanks to the carbon fiber parts.

The engine remains the same 2.0-liter turbo four, but now it sits under a carbon cover wearing the Mugen badge. The new titanium exhaust saves another 8.7 kilograms and slightly improves mid-range power. Mugen also added new brakes built for track use, with better cooling and stopping power.

None of it comes cheap. The front splitter, side skirts, and rear diffuser go for about $9,700 each. The carbon hood adds another $7,800, the rear wing $6,500, the lip spoiler $1,300, and the fenders about $5,200. Then there’s the brake kit at $6,500, the titanium exhaust at $4,900, and the carbon engine cover for $1,200.

Load up every Mugen upgrade, and the total climbs to about $62,500. Add that to the Civic Type R’s base price, and it easily passes $100,000. Production stays limited, with parts made to order through 2026. The finished car looks straight out of a racetrack and sounds like it’s ready to prove it belongs there.
