Merger Talks Between VW Group And Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles Are Unlikely To Happen

The CEO of VW Group Matthias Mueller has stated they are not interested in merger talks with Fiat-Chrysler, while the boss of Fiat-Chrysler Sergio Marchionne has mentioned that VW Group would soon offer a merger by itself. This is due to PSA purchasing Opel from General Motors.
He explained that PSA's purchasing Opel is kind of a pressure for VW, as PSA might become the second biggest car company in Europe.

At the Geneva Motor Show, Marchionne has stated that he will not be surprised when VW would want to start negotiating.

In a recent report, Matthias Mueller has explained that they have no intention of negotiating. It is interesting that the PSA-Opel deal puts FCA in a complicated situation in Europe. Its market share is only 7 percent in Europe. After Mueller's rejection, they would probably have the same answer from GM.
According to the president of GM, Dan Ammann, they were never interested in that and they have not changed the opinion.
