Mercedes Made the GLC EQ Longer, Softer, and More Chauffeur-Friendly

Mercedes is clearly playing to the local taste here. The new Mercedes GLC EQ long-wheelbase isn’t just a stretched SUV for the sake of it; it’s built around the idea that the best seat might not be the one behind the wheel.
From the outside, the changes are subtle but easy to catch once you look closer. The rear doors are longer, the side glass stretches further back, and the rear end stands a bit more upright. It still looks like a GLC EQ, just with a slightly more relaxed, elongated stance.

Step inside, and the focus shifts. Up front, it’s the usual Mercedes setup with that wide 39.1-inch Hyperscreen taking over the dashboard. But the real attention goes to the second row. Two individual seats, properly shaped, with heating, ventilation, and massage. It feels more like a place to sit back and be driven than anything else. The third row adds flexibility, even if it’s more occasional.

Power-wise, it keeps things simple. A dual-motor setup with around 416 hp. More than enough for a large SUV, with the focus on smooth, easy performance rather than big numbers.
The battery is about 85.5 kWh, slightly smaller to save weight and space. Even so, it’s expected to deliver over 700 km on the local cycle, which is plenty for everyday use.

Underneath, it’s built on a stretched version of Mercedes’ new EV platform with 800V tech. And if you go for the right options, you get extras borrowed from the S-Class, like air suspension and rear steering. That should make it feel calm and easy.
The new Mercedes GLC EQ is arriving in China later this year, and everything about it points in one direction. Comfort first, space second, and performance somewhere after that.
