Meet The HiPhi A: The Electric Hypercar That Blends Performance And Innovation

Chinese carmaker HiPhi has just showcased its latest electric powerhouse, and it's called the A. The company claims this hypercar can blitz from 0 to 62 mph in just a tad over two seconds and can hit a top speed of nearly 186 mph.

All of this high-octane performance comes courtesy of a tri-motor setup—one in the front and two at the rear—collectly pumping out a jaw-dropping 1,287 horsepower. HiPhi collaborated with WESAIL New Energy Automotive to bring this powerhouse to life. It's the first HiPhi model to feature an in-house-developed battery pack and motors, sporting carbon fiber rotor designs and cutting-edge cooling tech.

These innovations allow the motors to deliver high power for over 30 minutes and, interestingly, leave room for potential upgrades. While HiPhi hasn't spilled the beans on range or battery size, they're proud to announce that the battery pack can discharge a whopping 1.5 MW of power at its peak. The icing on the cake is a carbon fiber bulletproof undercarriage shield, which could make this electric vehicle more durable in case of minor accidents.

The battery pack's top is also covered with a fireproof carbon fiber lid. To ensure the A is a blast to drive, HiPhi has equipped it with active rear-axle steering, torque vectoring, and continuously variable damping. While we don't have precise dimensions or weight figures, HiPhi has painstakingly aimed for a nearly 50:50 weight distribution between the front and rear, promising sharp handling and excellent dynamics.

When it comes to the A's design, it's a real head-turner. Although HiPhi claims that their modern lineup's futuristic aesthetic served as inspiration, the liftback silhouette is unusual and has similarities to the Lancia Gamma from the 1970s. Forged carbon fiber elements adorn the vehicle, from a prominent rear wing to the front fascia, reminiscent of the Nissan GT-R, and the side skirts. The pronounced wheel arches and wide stance give it a curvy figure that's undeniably attractive.

Inside, the HiPhi A boasts premium materials, including extensive forged carbon fiber. HiPhi even opted for aircraft-grade TC4 aluminum alloy for the interior inlays and exterior trim. A prominent touchscreen is the focal point of the cabin's minimalist design, and two digital displays serve as side mirrors. Along with generously cushioned bucket seats and a rear bench, ambience lighting adds flair to the otherwise restrained cockpit.

HiPhi A

HiPhi has positioned itself as a major player in the auto industry, aiming to bridge the gap between cutting-edge tech and timeless design. David Ding, HiPhi's founder and CEO, envisions hypercars like the A as symbols of top-tier technological innovation while also paying homage to automotive classics, ultimately leading the way toward the future of mobility. The HiPhi A will make its public debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show on November 17, with limited production slated to start in the first quarter of 2025.
