McLaren MP4 Naming Scheme Ditched For The New MCL32
by AllAutoExperts | 17 April, 2020
Most of the teams manufacture and design a new F1 car every year. That includes McLaren, too. They're always coming up with new designs, new sponsors, new technology and a new engine. The only thing is not changed is the McLaren MP4 naming scheme, but this season, McLaren has decided to change that, too.
According to the latest news, McLaren is going to release its new MCL32 on the 24th of February. They're going to get rid of the MP4 naming scheme. This scheme has entitled every single car for the past three decades.

This means that every car the team has manufactured had this designation and it goes back to 1981 when Ron Dennis proposed Marlboro's sponsorship and included his previous Project 4 team. The original McLaren MP4 introduced carbon-fiber construction to the MP4 - 31 scheme that was driven by Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button last year.

This tradition is going to stop this year, as McLaren plans a totally new era. The new MCL32 model will still have a Honda engine, but with a new livery. We really hope they're going to bring back to life the orange scheme founded by Bruce McLaren.
