Lucid Air All-Weather Floor Mats Recalled Over Safety Risk: Remove Them Now
by AutoExpert | 29 March, 2025
If you’re driving a Lucid Air with the optional all-weather floor mats, you might want to hit pause for a moment. The luxury EV maker just announced a recall because these mats could slide out of place and mess with the throttle pedal—potentially causing some seriously risky situations.
Here’s the lowdown: Lucid’s Model-00 all-weather floor mats don’t have proper anchors. Instead, they’re held in place by small nibs on the underside, which isn’t enough to keep them from slipping forward. If that happens, the mats could interfere with the accelerator, creating a chance for unintended acceleration. That’s bad news for everyone on the road.

The issue first popped up in August last year when a Lucid sales associate in Europe noticed the floor mat might’ve slid forward and caused the accelerator to stick. Later, Lucid found out about 13 more incidents where the mats shifted around. Thankfully, none of those cases involved the accelerator sticking—until February 27, 2025, when a U.S. customer reported a scary situation. While accelerating, the throttle pedal didn’t spring back after being released. After investigating, Lucid decided the risk was too big to ignore.
To fix the problem, Lucid stopped selling the flawed mats and now only offers ones with proper anchors—just like most cars. If you’ve got the old mats, Lucid wants you to remove them ASAP. You’ll get a full refund for your purchase, and if you’re not sure which mats you have, just swing by a Lucid facility for a free inspection. Better safe than sorry, right?
