Land Rover Refreshes The Discovery Sport One More Time, Possibly For The Last Time
by AutoExpert | 11 June, 2025
The Land Rover Discovery Sport has been quietly holding on since its 2014 debut, with a mild facelift in 2019. Now, it’s getting one more round of updates to keep it going a bit longer, though its days might be numbered. Spy shots suggest that Land Rover could be ready to phase it out in favor of a new, smaller Defender variant, possibly named the Defender Sport.
For the 2026 model year, there are a few key changes. The base trim is now called Dynamic S, which better aligns with the naming of the outgoing Dynamic SE and Dynamic HSE—but those have been scrapped and replaced by new Landmark and Metropolitan versions.

The Dynamic S brings updated wheels and gloss-black trim. Landmark adds a touch of the outdoors, with mountain motifs in the puddle lights and on the door sills, a panoramic roof, and a 3D camera setup, which is pretty handy.

Metropolitan takes a more luxurious angle with a silver grille, upgraded 14-way heated and cooled seats, a 650-watt Meridian sound system, and 20-inch wheels. Across all trims, buyers can pick from new accessory packs aimed at weekend getaways, from beach trips to snow adventures, complete with things like sunshades, a roof box, and even an armrest cooler.

What hasn’t changed? The familiar all-wheel drive system and four-cylinder engine lineup, including diesels and a plug-in hybrid for Europe. However, as before, the U.S. market doesn’t get the hybrid option. If the rumors are true, this might be the Land Rover Discovery Sport’s farewell tour.
