Land Rover Defender OCTA Black Is The Darkest, Quickest Land Rover Yet
by AutoExpert | 4 July, 2025
Land Rover is leaning into the blackout trend in a big way with the new Defender OCTA Black, a meaner, moodier version of its already hardcore off-roader. If the regular OCTA wasn’t bold enough for you, this one turns everything down to pitch black.
It starts with Narvik Black paint, which Land Rover calls the “truest black” in their color lineup. Customers can go even further by adding a matte protective film for that stealth-fighter finish.

Almost everything else you see on the exterior follows suit. There are up to 30 different parts done in either satin or gloss black. That includes the skid plates, the grille, the tailpipes, and even the recovery hooks. Even the “Defender” badge is dark silver.

Buyers get a choice of 20- or 22-inch wheels, both finished in gloss black, with matching black center caps and brakes featuring gloss black calipers.
Inside, it’s more of the same. The cabin features black switchgear, a satin black crossbar beam, and a black steering wheel. The seats are leather with Kvadrat textile accents, giving the dark interior just a touch of texture and contrast.

Under the hood, nothing’s changed—and that’s a good thing. You still get the twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 with 626 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. That’s enough to launch this rugged SUV from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds and on to a top speed of 155 mph.

The OCTA Black also benefits from the latest 2026 updates to the Defender lineup, including refreshed headlights, a larger 13.1-inch touchscreen, and new trim finishes. In short, it’s the toughest, most sinister Defender you can buy.
