Kia K4 Hatchback Is Here—And It Might Be The Practical Pick Of The Bunch

Kia’s lineup just keeps growing, and now there’s a new addition: the K4 Hatchback. It’s a compact, practical little car that gives you more cargo space without taking up much more room on the road. This new hatch rolls in about a year after the K4 Sedan and basically offers the same setup in a shorter, more versatile package.
The 2025 New York Auto Show marks the first time we’re seeing it up close.

The front of the Kia K4 hatchback bears a striking resemblance to the sedan, yet its side profile presents a distinct image. It keeps the hidden rear door handles and sculpted rear shoulders but adds a black trim piece that connects the side windows to the back glass. Around back, it gets its look with a wide LED light bar and a spoiler built right into the hatch.
Thanks to the shorter rear end, the hatch is about 11 inches (or 10.6 if you’re looking at the GT-Line) shorter than the sedan. That smaller size makes it easier to park and zip around tight city streets—always a win for urban drivers.

Inside, the Kia K4 hatchback carries over the same high-tech digital cockpit from the sedan, with options like a Harman Kardon sound system and up to 29 driver-assistance features. Even though it’s smaller, Kia says the rear legroom is still best-in-class, and headroom actually improves by an inch thanks to the flatter roofline.
The big win is cargo space. Behind the rear seats, you get 22.2 cubic feet of storage—and a massive 59.3 cubic feet if you fold the seats down. That’s way more than the sedan, which only gives you 14.6 cubes.

You can also get it in a Sparkling Yellow color, which really pops. The sporty GT-Line trim stands out with 18-inch wheels, gloss black accents, a three-spoke steering wheel, paddle shifters, and a stiffer suspension. The GT-Line Turbo takes it further with cube-style LED headlights, fog lights, a sunroof, and bigger brakes up front.
Under the hood, the base engine is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that makes 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque, paired with Kia’s Intelligent Variable Transmission. Want more punch? There’s a turbocharged 1.6-liter option with 190 hp and 195 lb-ft, hooked up to an eight-speed automatic.

The 2026 Kia K4 Hatchback is expected to land in U.S. dealerships in late 2025. Although the pricing is not yet known, given that the sedan version starts at around $22K and reaches a peak of just over $28K, the hatch is likely to be priced in the same range.
