Kia EV5 Hits Europe With Smart Tech And Long Range
by AutoExpert | 8 July, 2025
Kia’s EV5 is getting ready to hit Europe, but if you’re hoping for the punchy all-wheel-drive version, you’ll need a little patience. At launch, only the front-wheel-drive model will be available. No dual motors or performance GT trim until sometime in 2026.
That doesn’t mean it’s boring, though. The EV5 still offers a solid 215 hp and a decent 0-100 km/h time of 8.4 seconds. It’s powered by an 81.4 kWh battery that can take you up to 329 miles on a charge, depending on the trim. Go for the Kia EV5 GT-Line with its bigger wheels, and you’ll lose a bit of range but gain some extra style points.

Charging isn’t lightning-fast like in Kia’s bigger EV6 or EV9, since it skips the 800V tech—but a 10 to 80% charge still only takes about 30 minutes. And yes, you can still power your laptop or even a mini-fridge thanks to the onboard Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function.

Inside, the new Kia EV5 keeps things sleek and smart with two large screens, a separate climate display, and even a rear touchscreen so passengers can adjust their own air settings. If you’re tired of fiddling with menus, Kia’s new ChatGPT-powered assistant is ready to help you with just your voice.

Size-wise, it’s a bit longer and roomier than the Sportage, and it’s clearly positioned as a stylish, tech-savvy electric alternative. It won’t beat a Tesla Model Y off the line, but if comfort, practicality, and clever features matter more than outright speed, the Kia EV5 might just be worth the wait.
