Kia Carens Clavis EV Officially Revealed With Up To 305 Miles Range And 100 kW Fast Charging

Kia has just taken the wraps off the fully electric version of its Carens Clavis, and it’s more than just a nod to the EV-inspired styling we saw on the gas-powered model. The all-electric Clavis is the real deal, and it marks Kia’s first electric vehicle built entirely in India.
At a glance, the Kia Carens Clavis EV keeps much of the same futuristic design as the internal combustion model, but with a few functional tweaks. The front grille now lights up, the traditional cooling intake is gone, and a front-mounted charging port takes its place. There are also sleeker LED fog lights and a fresh set of aerodynamically shaped alloy wheels to help reduce drag and improve efficiency.

Kia describes the electric Clavis as a “lifestyle-ready recreational vehicle with SUV-inspired character,” and that seems about right. Inside, things take a big leap forward. Every version comes with a massive 26.6-inch digital display that stretches across the dashboard, combining both the instrument cluster and infotainment into one clean panel. Since there’s no gear lever, Kia has gone with a floating center console that opens up more space for storage and comfort.

Depending on the trim, the Kia Carens Clavis EV packs in some genuinely nice features. such as ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, an eight-speaker Bose audio system, customizable ambient lighting, and even Level 2 driver assistance systems with up to 20 safety and convenience features. In the second row, Kia’s added its “Boss Mode,” which is a one-touch system that lets you tumble the seat forward electronically to make getting into the third row way easier.

As for what’s under the skin, the electric Kia Carens Clavis borrows its powertrains from the Hyundai Creta EV. The standard version gets a 42 kWh battery and puts out 133 horsepower, offering up to roughly 251 miles. If you need more distance, the Long Range model steps things up with a 51.4 kWh battery and 169 horsepower, stretching the range to about 305 miles.

Both battery packs are liquid-cooled and built to handle tough conditions. They’re IP67-rated, so they’re resistant to dust and water. You’ll also get Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) support, which lets you power small devices from the car itself, and fast-charging capability up to 100 kW.

Kia hasn’t shared full global pricing yet, since it’ll vary by region. In India, where the electric Clavis is being built, prices start at Rs 17.99 lakh (about $21,000) and go up to Rs 24.49 lakh (around $28,600). That puts it well above the regular gasoline and diesel versions, which start at Rs 11.5 lakh (roughly $13,400).
