Jeep Confirms All-New Cherokee For 2026 With Hybrid Option
by AutoExpert | 25 June, 2025
The Jeep Cherokee is making a comeback. After being quietly discontinued in 2023, the nameplate is set to return in 2026 with an all-new generation, and it’s bringing some big changes.
The upcoming 2026 Jeep Cherokee gets a fresh design inspired by Jeep’s latest models like the Wagoneer S and the recently revealed Compass. You’ll still see the iconic seven-slot grille up front, but the overall styling leans more modern while keeping that rugged, outdoorsy vibe Cherokee fans expect.

Underneath, the new model will ride on Stellantis’s STLA Large Transverse platform. This gives Jeep the flexibility to offer a wide range of powertrains, including gas, hybrid, and fully electric options. A hybrid is already confirmed, and odds are good we’ll also see a full EV version.

If that happens, expect the electric Cherokee to borrow ideas from the larger Wagoneer S, which packs a 100-kWh battery and dual motors for 600 hp and 617 lb-ft of torque. The Cherokee EV won’t be that extreme, but it should still deliver solid performance.

Jeep CEO Bob Broderdorf called the new Cherokee a key player in the brand’s plan to offer more choices, better features, and sharper pricing. Positioned between the Compass and Grand Cherokee, it’s aimed squarely at the heart of the compact SUV market. The all-new Cherokee is set to be revealed later this year, with sales kicking off in 2026.
