JRL Recalls 21,000 Range Rover Evoques Over Airbag Defect

Airbags are one of those things you hope you never need, but when you do, they’d better work perfectly. But lately, airbag-related recalls have been popping up more often than anyone would like. The latest comes from Jaguar Land Rover, and it affects nearly 21,000 Range Rover Evoques.
If you own a 2021 to 2025 Evoque, here’s what you need to know. The front passenger airbag in these models might tear when it deploys. That doesn’t just reduce protection in a crash. It could also let out hot gases that might burn someone sitting in that seat.

The issue was first flagged during testing back in May 2023. At first, it didn’t seem like anything was wrong. Jaguar Land Rover and their suppliers checked things out and didn’t find any red flags. As they kept digging, they noticed that the way the airbags were folded wasn’t always consistent. That small detail turned out to be a big deal, and it’s now considered a potential safety risk.

Thankfully, no one’s been hurt, and there haven’t been any reported incidents. However, out of caution, Jaguar Land Rover is recalling the affected vehicles. Dealers will swap out the passenger airbag module and any related components. Owners will start getting official notices in the mail by late August. If you get one, don’t wait. It’s a quick fix, and it’s worth the peace of mind.
