Hyundai Casper Electric SUV Gets An Adventure-Ready Upgrade

Hyundai’s tiniest electric SUV just got a rugged makeover. Meet the Hyundai Casper Electric Cross, a tougher-looking version of the adorable city car that adds some off-road flair while keeping its practical, no-nonsense appeal.
For starters, Hyundai has added silver skid plates, black cladding around the wheel arches, a roof rack, and a fresh set of 17-inch wheels with a pixelated rear bumper design. There’s also a new matte green paint option, giving it a more adventurous feel.

Inside, the seats now have two-tone upholstery that matches the body color, while the dashboard keeps a mix of physical buttons and a large touchscreen. Underneath, the Casper Electric Cross packs a bigger 49-kWh battery, pushing its range to 177 miles on Korea’s test cycle. Fast charging takes the battery from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes.

For those prioritizing efficiency, the standard Casper Electric with smaller 15-inch wheels can go 196 miles per charge. Meanwhile, the European version—called the Inster—offers an even longer 230-mile WLTP range. With 113 hp on tap, the Casper Electric Cross is slightly more powerful than the base model but remains a city-friendly cruiser rather than a performance machine.

Expect similar acceleration to the European Inster Long Range, which does 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in 10.6 seconds with a top speed of 93 mph. Despite being a front-wheel-drive car, the Hyundai Casper Electric Cross is a suitable option for those seeking a small, efficient EV with a unique personality. Hyundai has priced it at 31.9 million won (about $22,000), making it an affordable and stylish choice.
