Hennessey Just Turned the Ford Expedition Into a Family Raptor

Hennessey usually grabs attention by adding absurd amounts of horsepower to already fast vehicles. This time, though, the company went in a different direction. The new VelociRaptor Expedition is less about drag-strip numbers and more about turning Ford’s big family SUV into something that looks ready for a cross-country off-road trip at any moment.
The interesting part is that the engine stays completely untouched. Ford’s twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 still makes 440 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque, just like in the regular Expedition Tremor. Instead, Hennessey focused its attention on the suspension, tires, brakes, and overall attitude of the SUV.

So the Expedition now sits two inches higher and rides on chunky all-terrain tires wrapped around custom 20-inch wheels. There are also Brembo front brakes, steel skid plates, integrated off-road lights, power side steps, and a redesigned front bumper. Even parked, the thing looks like it belongs somewhere far away from city traffic.

There’s a carbon-fiber intake under the hood, yet output remains unchanged. Instead of making the Expedition faster, Hennessey spent its efforts making it look and feel tougher. The VelociRaptor Expedition feels more focused on presence, comfort, and capability than outright speed.

Production will stay limited, and every SUV gets a numbered plaque plus Hennessey’s 3-year / 36,000-mile warranty. Pricing starts at $129,950, which is well over $45,000 more than a basic Expedition Tremor. Expensive, definitely, but somebody out there has probably already convinced themselves this is the perfect family road-trip machine.
