This Faux Land Cruiser Is Actually A Toyota Probox Underneath

Somehow, the Toyota Probox has become one of Japan’s favorite blank canvases for weird and surprisingly charming custom builds. The latest example comes from Goosfam, which looked at the humble little hauler and somehow saw an old-school Land Cruiser hiding underneath.
The result is called the RetroPro, and it gives the Probox a front end inspired by the classic Land Cruiser 60 Series. Square headlights, a simple grille, a chunky bumper, a flat hood, and reshaped fenders completely change the personality of the car. Now it looks like something you’d take into the mountains instead of driving between office buildings.

Goosfam offers two different versions. The Urban Classic adds lots of chrome trim, while the LifeStyle Retro keeps things darker with black accents instead. The tuner also paints the cars in old Land Cruiser-inspired shades like beige, brown, and pale blue, which honestly suit the boxy shape surprisingly well.

New five-spoke wheels and all-terrain tires finish the look, though mechanically the Probox stays the same underneath. Buyers still get Toyota’s dependable 1.5-liter four-cylinder or the available hybrid setup, and there’s optional 4WD for anyone wanting the full fake Land Cruiser experience.

The RetroPro body kit starts at ¥660,000 ($4,100) before paint and installation. Complete converted vehicles begin at ¥2,980,000 ($18,600). Which means you can now own a tiny faux Land Cruiser for less money than some people spend modifying an actual one.
